The Big Shower

What is one of the hottest new trends in bathroom remodeling? The big shower. Ok, so it’s not brand new but experts are predicting this is the year it becomes more mainstream. Many have long thought that the bathroom must have a tub, at least for resale value, but more and more people are opting to lose the tub in favor of a larger shower, especially in a master bath. A larger shower allows you to incorporate fun shower upgrades like, multiple shower heads, body sprays, or a relaxing seat. Built in niches are perfect for storing all your supplies in a convenient, out of the way, space.

In an Angieslist survey, 89% of respondents said tile was a must for bathroom floors and showers. Larger tiles were favored over smaller ones. Larger tiles mean less grout, and they can help make your space feel larger, too. How big is too big? A general rule of thumb is that you can fit 3 full tiles across your space (wall, floor) otherwise it tends to look choppy. Add glass tiles or other mosaics to break up the space and add color and interest.

If you are thinking of remodeling your bathroom consider your use of the space. Do you use your tub or do you prefer a relaxing shower? Is this a house you plan to stay in or are you thinking of moving soon? The answer to these question will help shape your renovation. Call today for an in home estimate, or stop by our showroom, conveniently located on Sheridan Rd in downtown Zion, and meet with our designer to find the perfect look for your new bathroom.
